Whitecaps FC fans will soon get some single game ticket information for the upcoming 2011 Major League Soccer season, but here's your sneak peak.
Tickets will officially go on sale to the general public on Saturday, February 19th at 10am PT. They will be sold through the usual ticket outlets (Ticketmaster) and the most popular games will likely be May 28th against Thierry Henry and the New York Red Bulls and on July 30th with David Beckham and the LA Galaxy coming to Vancouver. September 24th will also be a special night as it's the final match at Empire Field against Seattle Sounders FC. Portland will be the first 'Caps match-up when they enter BC Place stadium on October 2nd.
The Whitecaps will likely make an official announcement on Wednesday.
Anyone else find it problematic that they are advertising "July 30th with David Beckham and the LA Galaxy coming to Vancouver". Beckham has only played one in three Galaxy matches since he came here. Promoting him instead of the match will only lead to disappointment when he doesn't play here.
ReplyDeleteI think the MLS league has grown enough to not solely rely on Beckham to be the image of the league. So many other better players now with knowledgeable fans.
ReplyDeleteAnyone think there will be tickets for the rest of the season left after the first day?
It is problematic, but Beckham, regardless of whether or not he is playing, is a marketing tool and it's something they will continue to use.
ReplyDeleteAs a fan of the game, I am more interested in seeing Angel and Donovan suit up for the Galaxy than Beckham.
