Whitecaps FC Practice Notes - March 10th

-Jay DeMerit picked up a minor injury and left practice early but will be back on the field tomorrow.

-GK Joe Cannon said he doesn't think he'll be ready for a full 90 minutes for at least a couple more weeks, meaning Jay Nolly will likely get the start between the posts. Nolly is holdover from last years' 'caps

-Hassli, the 'caps first Designated Player signing has extremely limited English but is fantastic at French. His native language. The skill and goalscoring was immediately noticed when he took the field. Some extremely impressive passing and shooting when he had the goal. He also knows how to finish. Said he doesn't feel pressure to score. He's been paid to do that for the past 10 years.

-Expect the 'caps to make an announcement shortly on the signings of 3rd string GK and the "goalie of the future" with Brian Sylvestre, defender Blake Wagner and forward Long Tan. All three are listed in the MLS website as signed players and head coach Teitur Thordarson said today they are players they want to sign.
