- Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has been sacked as manager of Championship club Ipswich Town.

- FIFA president Sepp Blatter has said for the first time in public that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is likely to be held in January.

- Sunderland striker Danny Welbeck has been ruled out for three weeks through injury.

- Juventus moved quickly to sign Genoa striker Luca Toni after Fabio Quagliarella was ruled out for the rest of the season with ruptured knee ligaments.

- Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is hoping to tie up a two-month loan for David Beckham by Sunday.
